Exciting Plans Announced for Abandoned Lot in Albany County
An abandoned car wash was recently purchased at the intersection of Route 9 and Wellness Way in Latham. Last week, plans were announced for this high-traffic area and many in the Capital Region are excited about what's going to be built there next.
Stewart's Shops Corp. will be adding to its robust total of convenience stores throughout Upstate New York - and beyond - after details were announced to build another one in a high-traffic area in Albany County.
According to the Albany Business Review, Stewart's paid over $1.2 million for the area of land on Route 9 in Latham an area that has seen a lot of development lately.
The Malta-based convenience store chain paid $1.23 million for the 1.2-acre site at 2 Wellness Way (formerly Autopark Drive), according to a deed filed in the Albany County clerk's office. The site was previously a car wash. The seller was Amedore Autopark LLC. Albany Business Review
According to the Albany Business Review, the "town planning board reviewed the sketch plan last year and anticipates starting the site plan review at its meeting in May."
The article reports that Stewart's plans to build on the land this spring and summer, and hopes to open in the fall.
Stewart's Shops is an American chain of convenience stores located primarily in eastern Upstate New York and southwestern Vermont, owned by the Dake family, and has over 350 locations.
Popular for their ice cream, potato chips, hard rolls, root beer, milk, coffee, and other drinks, 75% of their locations also sell gas.
