For most drafts, it's an event. Players get dressed up, and take the stage when their name is called. Pro Lacrosse, on the other hand, has a less formal way of doing it...

Getting Drafted During Your Game
On Wednesday, April 15th, the Premiere Lacrosse League held the first leg of their draft. During it, they decided to pick up a Capital Region hometown hero. Silas Richmond, an Attack on the UAlbany Great Danes Lacrosse Team was selected fifth overall in the draft to the Philly Waterdogs.
There was just one issue: he was drafted during a game. UAlbany took on rival Siena on the same day, and as their match was getting ready to kick off, Silas got the call that he'd be going pro.
Well Deserved
Richmond is a staple of the Great Danes team, and he couldn't have deserved this moment more. He's been a machine since high school, when he played in the 2022 World Junior Lacrosse Championships.
Since then, he's been a powerhouse at UAlbany, racking up accolades. He earned First Team All-Conference his Sophomore year, and was named America East Offensive Player of the Year, led the American East in goals, and gained another First Team all-Conference bid during his Junior year.
Now, he's bringing his skills to the pros, and his teammates got to celebrate every second of it with him.
