Plans are moving forward to bring much-needed indoor and outdoor turf to Southern Saratoga County. The former owners of the Sportsplex of Halfmoon know there is a dire need for these fields in Clifton Park. They are hoping to have the indoor and outdoor synthetic turf field open by next winter.
Where will this Facility Be Located?
The new facility will be built at Players Park which is located at 1012 Route 146A next to Eagle Crest Golf Club.
They are building a nearly 42,000 square foot structure. It will be a single-story building that will have one large field that they will split in half. The owners said it would not be an inflatable dome and that it would be made of tension fabric. The outdoor turf field is in the plans along with a small practice turf area.
What Happens to the Existing Structures at Players Park?
The town would need to approve the plans but if it does get approval, the fields would take up the 8 acres that are used for FootGolf. There is also a miniature golf course that exists on the property and is run by the owner. This would stay. There is an ice cream stand too but the new facility may house the ice cream that they say will continue to be offered.
Why Put the Facility in Clifton Park?
The former owners of Sportsplex of Halfmoon said that there is a dire need for a facility like this since they closed in early 2020. It would be a $4 million project but they know it will help put a facility in southern Saratoga County that soccer and lacrosse players need. These indoor and outdoor synthetic turf fields would be a great asset to these players.
