There is a new challenge being issued by the DEC that will get your kids outdoors this summer to complete it. Here are the details.The Department of Environmental Conservation is launching "I Bird NY". This is an annual birdwatching challenge open to kids ages sixteen and under.

According to WGRZ.com, the program is offered for beginners and experts that want to search outdoors for various species of birds in New York state. During "I Bird NY" beginner's challenge, kids will have to identify ten common birds that are listed on the DEC website. If you have an expert bird watcher, they must find at least ten to fifty bird species and enter those on the challenge form.

Just for participating in the "I Bird NY" challenge, each person will get a certificate, a bracelet and entered to win bird watching accessories.
