Dale Earnhardt Jr. Wins With Humility At Talladega
You have to give it to the Crowned Prince of NASCAR, even when it is at the cost of my very own favorite driver Jimmie Johnson, he still makes me happy that he got the win.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. won his first race of the season this weekend at Talladega Super Speedway and while it doesn't shock me that he got his first win in a restrictor plate race, it always seems to shock him. He just seems to be that genuinely humble.
After the race when asked why he seemed so emotional he said that it was just his "Daddy's" birthday and he can not believe all the blessings he has in his life. He thanked his team and all the guys in the shop for giving him a great car and never once seemed to want to take credit for a race well run. In fact he said that he that he just isn't deserving of all the blessings he has in his life. Now that is the kind of competitor I can get behind.
This win now puts Jr. into the "Chase" at the end of the year and in the running to be NASCAR Champion, I find myself wondering if a little part of me isn't rooting for him to win it.
