The Headlines:
1996- Garth Brooks refuses to accept the American Music Awards' entertainer of the year award. Garth, who felt as though he didn't deserve the honor above the other nominees, says "I cannot agree with this" and does not take home the trophy. He does accept the other two awards he wins that night.
1969- "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour" debuts on CBS. Guests for the first episode are Bobbie Gentry, John Hartford, The Smothers Brothers and comedian Pat Paulsen. Jerry Reed and Anne Murray become favorites on the show. The TV exposure helps launch their careers.
1959- Ray Price records "Heartaches By The Number" at Nashville's Bradley Studios. Written by the legendary Harlan Howard, the song peaks at number two by May of that year.
