Two separate Schenectady banks were robbed on Monday and two suspects were spotted later in the day.

The suspects were actually spotted by a couple of people in law enforcement – Schenectady Public Safety Commissioner Wayne E. Bennett, and Schenectady Police Officer Nicolas Giardono.

The first robbery took place at the Key Bank branch at 1610 Eastern Parkway just before noon. Officer Giardono identified the suspect. The 18-year-old man from Utica was taken into custody and charged with Grand Larceny, Robbery and Criminal Possession Of Stolen Property. He is Khali T. Gilmore.

The second robbery happened just after 2:00 p.m. at the Key Bank branch at 313 State Street. A description of the suspect was sent out. Police saw someone that matched the description in the Union College area. As police approached him, the suspect ran. Police chased him on foot, but that ended quickly, with the suspect being taken into custody.

According to the story from the Times Union, Commissioner Bennett identified the suspect, and then contacted police for assistance to arrest him. That’s when they charged 48-year-old Mark W. Florence from Schenectady with Grand Larceny, Robbery and Criminal Possession Of Stolen Property.
