I love that people in the Capital Region now have more safe options with public transportation. I also like the fact that local officials acknowledge that residents want to enjoy their city and they want to make it as easy as possible. Two weeks ago Albany announced that they will have a Capital City Shuttle so that residents can enjoy a safe night out on the weekends. Now Schenectady is helping people get around for free too.

CDTA is offering the Electric City Trolley to transport people between some of the establishments in Schenectady. The free service will bring patrons from Rivers Casino & Resort, Proctors Theater, Mohawk Harbor, The Stockade, the Amtrak Station, Little Italy, State Street and a few hotels. It will run Thursday, Friday and Saturdays from 4pm until 1am on a 20 minute schedule. A local Schenectady transportation software company called Transfinder developed a new mobile application that will give real-time information on the trolley's location and points of interest.

The Electric City Trolley service begins today (June 22nd).
