Amtrak Limits Service Due to The Coronavirus
Amtrak has announced an abbreviated schedule for its service north of New York City. The new schedule is to eliminate the number of people traveling in large groups due to the coronavirus outbreak.According to News 10 ABC, with the coronavirus affecting every aspect of our lives, Amtrak is now limiting service. Effective Sunday, March 15, Amtrak's Adirondack line will only now go to Albany. The Amtrak Maple Leaf line will only run to Niagara Falls.
Amtrak typically stops in Hudson, Schenectady, Amsterdam, Saratoga, and Glens Falls. The train will not stop at any of these locations due to severely reduced demand with the coronavirus outbreak.
Amtrak lines outslide of New York will continue service to Boston and Hartford and many southern cities.
Hopefully the Amtrak service will be restored soon. For now, businesses are trying to accommodate those who still need to travel without inconveniencing others and heeding to the coronavirus social distancing requirements.
