Albany Area Kmart Closing

The Colonie Kmart is closing.

The store, which is located at 1860 Central Avenue, close enough to be called the intersection of Central Avenue and Route 155, will no longer be open by the end of 2013.

CBS 6 Albany has a report about the store will not be renewing its lease, and the employees are going to be able to apply for positions at other stores, including Sears.

It’s possible that a new business may be located in place of the Colonie landmark. The Albany Business Review had a story about CarMax putting a new store at the Kmart location. If everything gets approved, this will be the first New York State location for the largest seller of used vehicles.
