Colleges across the nation have been revoking honorary degrees given to Bill Cosby after he was convicted of sexual assault, and a Capital Region college has followed suit.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has joined the State University of New York in rescinding an honorary degree given to Bill Cosby, according to the Times Union. The degree was given to Cosby in 2001.

RPI and SUNY are among several schools across the country who have crumpled up similar honorary degrees. The Times Union article says Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, Carnegie Mellon and Indiana University have also recalled degrees from the disgraced comedian.

Cosby was convicted last month on 3 counts of sexual assault.
