Lost Cantina Song

Although I truly love radio, and have enjoyed this form of entertaining alot, it's hard to forget your roots.  My personal roots are in the local music scene, having played the  smoke filled piano bar circuit for years.  So when I hear that a fellow musician passes,  it's time to stop and give honorable mention.
Alan Lamica - March 30, 1951 to June 2, 2011

Alan was an accomplished local guitar player who played with The North 40 Band, Branchwater, and most recently Lost Cantina. He was born and raised in the Saratoga Springs area and most recently lived in Gansevoort. Aside from his skills playing guitar, Al would team up with his younger brother Bruce to put out some amazing harmonies. Our hearts go out to his Lady Beth, family and extended family which was extensive! A major loss for local Country Music!

Thru a good buddy and Lost Cantina lead singer,  Mark Pierre, I had the chance of sitting in with Alan and the band on several occasions.   I was literally blown away with everyone's musicianship, and I remember watching Alan closely at one of the practices.    I was fascinated with his "fingerpicking" and thorough knowledge of music.  You can just tell!

UPDATE: We have this recording sent to us of the band featuring Alan on "gut string" guitar)

From all of us at WGNA, we send condolences to his family.   I'm sure it's a great loss to the "Lost Cantina", but I'm sure his spirit will live on with each country hit they crank out.  Go see them some nite.  You'll see what I mean!
