Yesterday and today, some big news happened around the Capital Region and could have or might effect you.

In Albany, Washington Avenue Extension at Fuller Road will have a partial closure this Saturday and Sunday, because of some construction on the Albany NanoTech Building.

At the intersection of Route 4 and Luther Road in East Greenbush, there’s construction of a new roundabout, but it’s being halted.

New York DOT has an interactive map you can use to see what roads are currently open or closed - many roads are reopening but not all are yet. Check the map before you head out on the roads!

Even though Tropical Storm Irene has moved on, she has left quite the path of destruction behind for us to clean up. It is causing some major traffic problems across the Capital Region, which could make commuting this morning just a little bit trickier. Here is a list of road closures from around our area.

UPDATE: The Thruway is reopened between exits 23 and 24 after a construction accident involving a gas line.

Let this be a warning to all commuters, visitors, and residents of our beautiful city.  For the next month, they aren't messing around.  You better keep the noise to a bare minimum!  I have a way of remembering the rules for those of you who are worried...

This happens on any road, at any time. It happens on the Northway as well as Central Avenue.

Countryfest is like anything else, it is not good or evil, it is all what you do with it that matters. Like fire, if you use it correctly, it is a wonderful tool , if you use it incorrectly , you get burned. I hate for those who get burned to not want to risk the fire again so I give you some tips to enjoy your day at Countryfest.

I've always bragged to people about how great the Capital Region is to live and work in.  The traffic here has always been miniscule compared to other areas.  (I was born and raised in the land of the Long Island Expressway - nuff said!)  But things are changing here AND ELSEWHERE.

Where the hell are the plows today? I'm so mad I could spit nails. If I could spit salt and sand I would have at least put some on the roads unlike the non-existent plow drivers today.

Depends on how you look at it, my young friends.  Many say that older people are oblivious to what's going on around them when driving.  Well, not so fast, wize guy!!!
