Who Will Win The 154th Running Of The Belmont Stakes?
The 154th running of Belmont Stakes will take place this Saturday on NBC at Belmont Park in Elmont NY. The mile and a half track always concludes the triple crown races but doesn't produce the same headlines as the Derby and Preakness, at least not in 2022. Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike will be in the field of 8 and maybe he will mess up a few more betting cards this weekend. It still should be a fun race as it always is. Here is my quick take on this from the Times Union:
There wasn’t much respect shown for Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike when the post positions were drawn for Saturday’s running of the Belmont Stakes. After pulling off an upset at 80-1 odds in the Derby, Rich Strike is the third betting choice on Saturday in a field of 8. We the People opens at 2-1 after coming off a victory in the Peter Pan Stakes on May 15th. With no Chad Brown horses entered, watch for one of the 2 Todd Pletcher horses to win. Mo Donegal was 5th in the Derby, and filly Nest. Nest ran second in the Kentucky Oaks and Pletcher won the Belmont with a filly, Rags to Riches in 2004. Not a lot of buzz for the Belmont, but Nest with 8-1 odds is a good bet in a mediocre field.
MJ and I discussed the Belmont briefly yesterday afternoon right here on Big Board Sports. Below is our quick conversation on that.
I am looking forward to Saturday and after the Belmont concludes, it is on to Saratoga racing season at the track and I can't wait for that to begin in mid July.
