WATCH As NY State Troopers Save Teenager from Burning Car! What Happened?
Be advised, the video below could be upsetting to some.
On a daily basis our New York State Police find themselves in a variety of situations. From a simple flat tire assist to saving someone's life, these Troopers never know exactly what they will encounter while out on patrol. On this September morning officers saved the life of a 17-year-old by pulling him from a burning vehicle.

On Thursday September 22nd, Troopers were on patrol on State Route 9D in the Hudson Valley when they heard what they say sounded like a car crash. It was just after 3am so the town of Wappinger was pretty quiet otherwise. Responding to the noise Troopers discovered a vehicle had crashed into a barn and was already on fire!
According to New York State Police reports, officers attempted to put out the fire themselves but the flames were already beyond their control. Unable to put the fire out Troopers knew they needed to get the driver of the Honda Odyssey out of the car and they had to do it quickly!
The body cam video below is less than 1 minute in length which illustrates that every decision, every action, every second was crucial in saving this persons life. As you will see in the video, officers were able to pull the driver from the vehicle. That individual was taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital and is expected to have a full recovery.
The driver of the vehicle was later arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
