In the story from WNYT, the murder happened on December 28, after David DePaolo got into a fight, and then allegedly used a claw hammer on the man and killed him. The alleged murder took place in a national park which made this a federal charge.

It was discovered that DePaolo was in the area after police found out that he used a debit card in Glens Falls. There was a minivan, which was part of an interstate manhunt, seen by the trooper, just off of Exit 21 of the Northway.
