Not since Fultonville's Sawyer Fredericks competed and eventually won Season 8 of 'The Voice' 5 years ago, have we had a contestant of area interest go as far as Ian Flanigan.  The 30-year-old Saugerties native with the silky smooth voice that had Blake Shelton jumping out of his chair on Monday night, came one step closer to the coronation of Season 19 winner on the hit NBC singing competition show.

After his performance of Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love" had all four judges championing Flanigan's greatness on Monday night,  it was time for America to vote; and vote they did. As a result of rescheduled NFL games due to Covid outbreaks and the NYC prime-time tree lighting ceremony, The Voice results show wasn't supposed to be aired until Thursday, but it did ultimately air on Tuesday.  Confused?  Yeah, we are too.  Regardless, the news is good for Flanigan and his legion of "FlaniFans" that have grown every week.

On Tuesday night, 17 of the contestants would be whittled down to just 9 through audience votes and judges saves.  Flanigan was never in much jeopardy of being eliminated this time around, but that could change in the subsequent weeks now that some of the lesser contestants are off the show.

The Top 9 are as follows: Desz (Team Kelly), Cami Clune (Team Kelly), Carter Rubin (Team Gwen), Ben Adams (Team Gwen), Ian Flanagan (Team Blake), Jim Ranger (Team Blake), John Holiday (Team Legend), Tamara Jade (Team Legend) and Bailey Rae (Team Legend)

The next time Flanigan will perform again will be on Monday night December 7th at 8PM on NBC.  The LIVE finals are scheduled for the following week.
