Upstate NY’s Spectacular Supermoon Last Chance of 2023 Tonight!

Get ready for an amazing spectacle in the sky tonight! The full moon is not just any full moon; it's the last supermoon of 2023. This supermoon, often called the "harvest moon," will grace our night sky tonight into Friday morning.

Why Is It Called a Harvest Moon?

Farmers relied on the extra bright light of the moon to work late into the night gathering their crops. They called it the harvest moon for that reason. This was before electric lights. The harvest moon acted as nature's light.

Other Than The Harvest Moon, What Else Can We See?

There will be three planets that will be visible tomorrow night into Friday morning. This will make viewing more spectacular. You will be able to see Saturn, Jupiter, and Mercury.

The harvest moon is the next big thing to the beautiful supermoon we witnessed in August. A supermoon occurs when the full moon is the closest to Earth in its orbit. Only about a quarter of full moons are labeled as "super" according to NASA.

When Will The Next Harvest Moon Appear?
