More Spring Snow: Winter Storm Watch Issued For Parts of Upstate NY
It may be the first week of April, but another round of winter weather is heading toward New York this week.
Just a couple of weeks ago we were enjoying sun and temperatures near 70 in many areas of Upstate New York. Since then we have had one of our biggest snowfalls ofthe season and now with the arrival of April, more snow is coming our way!
National Weather Service Issues Winter Storm Watch
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch from Wednesday morning through late Thursday night for the following areas in and around Upstate New York:
- Western & Southern Adirondacks
- Schoharie Valley
- Helderbergs and Eastern Catskills
- Northern Berkshires in Massachusetts
- Southern Vermont
The NWS Forecast calls for "heavy snow and mixed precipitation" with accumulations of 7 inches or more. A light coating of ice is also possible and wind gusts up to 50 mph. Like our most recent storm, this heavy, wet snow with the wind could increase the chance of power outages.
Any Snow For Albany?
According to News Channel 13 most of the wet snow will be seen in the mountains and the hill areas, but the valleys could potentially see some accumulating snow late Wednesday into Thursday.
