If you are like me, you have had various Prince songs going through your head since hearing about his death last week. Perhaps it may have been one of the songs that he wrote and you didn't know it, like "Manic Monday" or "Nothing Compares To You", just to name a couple of huge hits that my wife pointed out to me earlier today that most people never even associate with Prince. He was indeed an amazing songwriter.

For me now, though, I think it will be a song that Prince didn't write that will make the most impression on me and I would not even have known about it if I didn't stumble across this video today. I am so grateful that I did.

The video was posted on the Facebook wall of a photographer named Steve Purcell who was nice enough to share it with the world. On his page Steve wrote:

"This is August 2, 1990 sound check Osaka Japan. I spent six years of my life working for, creating with and laying the foundation for the rest of my career with Prince. Long nights, remote parts of the world and creative growth beyond my wildest dreams. This may not be the Prince you think of but it is the Prince I knew. Those years were and will always remain the highlight of my career. Thanks for the good times RIP Kid."

I love so much about this video. First, seeing one of the most prolific guitar players ever making the piano sound so beautiful. Secondly, I love his temperament in this video and the obvious love of music and for his band that shows through. Lastly, it is one of my favorite songs in the world. Take a look at Prince playing "Summertime".

I have to warn you, however, that it ends way too soon, and leaves you wanting so much more. Ironic.
