This New York Home Holds Record For Most Christmas Lights (Watch)
Record-Setting Xmas Display in New York
Ho Ho Holy Smokes! There's holiday decorating, and then there's this. FYI, it took me almost two hours to decorate my one little real tree this year for Christmas.
There's a home in Lagrangeville, NY which features over 720,000 Christmas lights, 1,200 strobes, 255 different songs, and holds the Guinness World Record for the biggest Christmas light display on a residential property.
Each December, tens of thousands of people visit this record-setting drive-thru display at 8 Patrick Drive, LaGrangeville. Some even make a donation that goes to local charities.
Family Tradition for Two Decades
It's a holiday light display that would make Clark Griswold jealous and the owners of the home, Tim and Grace Gay have been doing it for 20 years.
The festive tradition grows bigger and bigger each year, and they say they've given over $700,000 to local charities from the money raised at their dazzling light display which has been featured on TLC, CBS News, Fox News, and the Discovery Channel.
See the Incredible Show Below
Below is a quick 360 view of the ERDAJT Christmas Light Display that, in my opinion, can rival any holiday drive-thru light display in New York, or anywhere for that matter!
The video below is the view from the family room, and you can see the steady stream of cars that continually drive through. The Gay family says that they use over 2,500 extension cords with a total length of greater than 8 miles and if you add in the length of all the light strands, there are over 37 miles of wire outside.
How many man-hours go into building and maintaining a massive light show like this? The Gay family said they tracked it back in 2015, and they put in over 1,500 hours!
The show starts at 4:45 p.m. daily and ends at 9:30 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and at 10:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Click here for a schedule of each night’s music and sponsored charities.
