Target employees will be able to enjoy a day off for Thanksgiving for the first time since 2011.

After Walmart announced recently they will be closed Thanksgiving, you can add Target to the list of big box stores that will now be taking the holiday off.

The retail giant announced in a press release today they will be closed for turkey day on Thursday, November 26th. Target CEO Brian Cornell said in the release "...our incredible team have enabled us to move with flexibility and speed to meet guests’ changing needs during this global pandemic" and that “This year more than ever, a joyful holiday will be inseparable from a safe one."

Now if you are wondering if you will miss out on the great Target deals you are used to on Thanksgiving weekend, have no fear. Target said in today's announcement there will be plenty of holiday savings before and after Thanksgiving.

Not only is Thanksgiving a holiday Target employees here in the Capital Region and everywhere should have off to enjoy, now they also will enjoy it more without the stress of maintaining safe environment for themselves and for shoppers. With all the craziness in the world right now, it will be nice around the holidays to see folks working less and more focused on what really matters. Maybe this will be one of the positive, lasting effects of the pandemic.
