If you think that you are seeing a lot of ladybugs this fall, you aren't entirely wrong. There is a mix of ladybugs and Asian beetles that are covering a lot of Upstate NY siding and swarming homes.

If you are noticing an influx of insects coming out and inside your home, you are not alone. There are many bugs that manifest this time of year and are looking for a hiding spot. One of those insects is the boxelder bug.

You may not even be able to see these insects crawling all over local trees in the Capital Region. It's not because they are tiny, it's because there are so many that they blend in with the color of the tree bark. It's only when you get up close that you notice the gypsy moth caterpillars covering the trees. There's a huge infestation happening throughout the Capital Region and especially in Saratoga and Warren Counties.

Be on the lookout for these insects that lay eggs during the winter. They are a destructive insect that destroys plant species throughout New York state. The DEC is asking for your help.

Even though summer is winding down, you may still be enjoying the outdoors and nature. If you are on a hike or come across this insect, make sure you don't touch it.

You may have not liked how this winter started, but because of the freezing cold temperatures, it may have knocked out one of the most annoying insects.

Insects; the often useful yet sometimes gross and pesky critter!  Some are just flat out more annoying than others.  The stink bug is one of them.  These pesky critters were everywhere last spring and summer, and according to experts, they'll be making a comeback this season, perhaps worse than ever.

I seriously can't think of a more horrifying thing in the insect universe than the house centipede. They move quick, they have a million legs, they're furry yet slimy, probably make disgusting noises and they literally appear out of nowhere.  And that's how I almost died late last Friday night!

Summer would be so much better without mosquitoes! I'm sure there is some legitimate reason for these little blood suckers to be around,perhaps they play  a key role in the fine balance of nature.
