There is a critical need for blood donations throughout the Capital Region and this week you can become a Holiday Hero.

More than 300 cases of what the CDC is calling a potentially deadly fungus have been reported in New York hospitals.

There was a significant drop in blood donors over the holidays so the American Red Cross is issuing an emergency for donors to give.

Just when I think I can't be surprised by New York State's never ending need to tell it's citizens how to live their lives, they go one step further. Last year it was Daily Fantasy Football this year it's breastfeeding.

What a great video. I had so many thoughts while watching it. Even though it is only 7 minutes long, you get to watch through this small window a year's time go by. They say it's about the baby and of course it is. Brave little Ward fought a pretty hard battle to survive his first few months of life.

Not to worry, folks.  It's not in the United States.  But I'm not making this up. It's a hospital  in Zimbabwe, and they have a very creative way to make extra money.
