Spring Storm To Bring Weekend Snow To Upstate New York
The calendar says it's spring, but the weather in Upstate New York has other plans.
After colder temperatures and snow squalls in the area, our first week of spring will continue to feel and look more like winter this weekend. Northern areas of New York could really feel it with a decent amount of snowfall in the forecast.
National Weather Service Issues Winter Storm Watch For Northern New York
Let's start with the northern areas that could see the most snow. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Northern Washington, Northern Herkimer, Hamilton, and Northern Warren Counties from Friday evening to Saturday evening.
The NWS forecast is calling for a mix of snow and sleet with accumulations of 7 or more inches and a light glaze of ice for the areas above.
Capital Region Forcast
While we will not see high accumulations in the north, the weekend weather in the Capital Region will be wet and messy. News Channel 13 First Warning Forecast is calling for a slushy beginning and end to this storm with mostly rain Saturday with highs in the upper 30s and low 40s.
