The annual jazz festival is the latest event to get cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

When it comes to concerts and large gatherings, COVID-19 continues to take it's tool on events here in the Capital Region. Now, one of the areas biggest annual events has been cancelled.

SPAC announced today in a press release the 2020 Freihofer's Saratoga Jazz Festival has been cancelled. The event was scheduled to take place June 27 and 28 and was to feature acts like Nile Rogers, Kool & the Gang and more. The festival has been an annual SPAC tradition since 1978. Ticket holders can visit the SPAC website for info on ticket refunds or to donate part of their ticket purchase price to give first responders tickets to the 2021 festival.

With each passing week it feels like we lose another big summer event due to the pandemic, which is starting to make our normal lifestyle seem even further away in the future. That said, our first step is to get everyone back to work and make smaller gatherings normal again. Once we take that first step, hopefully the shows we love to go to will follow - we just need to be patient!
