In the story from The Post Star, there was a man running through the house, and when a caretaker, who was watching the house while the owner was away, and some friends saw this, a call was made to 9-1-1.

There was a sport utility vehicle parked nearby that the man got into in an effort to escape. The man’s effort failed when the suv came to a stop and was stuck in a snowbank. Someone used a cellphone and took a picture of the license plate of the suv while the man was trying to get out of the snowbank.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department and Fort Edward Police Department just happened to be in the area for another situation when the call came in. Both departments were immediately at the scene. That’s when they arrested Christopher M. Black, and charged him with Misdemeanor Counts Of Petit Larceny, Second Degree Burglary and Criminal Mischief. Black was sent to the Washington County Jail after his arraignment where he remained until Monday when he posted bail.
