Single Mom Builds Her Kids a House Using YouTube Tutorials [Watch]
Cara Brookins, a single mom from Arkansas got out of an abusive marriage ten years ago and couldn't afford a house big enough for her four kids - two teenagers, an 11-year-old, and a 2-year-old.
She wanted them each to have their own space, but wasn't sure how to do it. She realized she had just enough money to build a house if she didn't have to pay for the labor.
The best part of the story is how she did it!
She had no idea what she was doing, but she and her kids decided to build it themselves by learning how to build things on YouTube.
According to WFAA, they laid the foundation in 2008, and moved in less than a year later!
The house is about 3,500 square feet and has five bedrooms and a three-car garage.
Cara just wrote a book about it that comes out next week called "Rise: How a House Built a Family".
I think it's a really cool way to teach your kids how to be independent and that they can do anything they put their minds to!
