There are some top-shelf teachers in the Capital Region. I think I've visited all of the elementary instructors in my 20 years of doing this program. When you look up "top-shelf" in the dictionary though, Jamie Pink's photo will definitely be there! Here's another example of a great song that came out of her classroom.

This might be the eighth or ninth time I've visited Ms. Pink's school at Jefferson Elementary in the Shalmont system. This was a unique project, however. I wanted to have kids create a jingle for our special "Shop With A Cop" fundraiser.  We are looking for your donations: you can read all about it here.

But what's a good charity drive without a catchy jingle? Music "sticks" in peoples' brains, and this one is no exception.

This was a class composed not only of Ms. Pink's first graders, but also Mrs. Rossner's and Mrs. MuGuirk's 4th grade and Mrs. Scheffer's music class. There were over 40 kids in all. They created this little tune, with two of the girls suggesting that we use the simple "Doe, Ray, Me, Fa, Sol, La, Ti, Do" as the melody!  Brilliant! Who doesn't know THAT?

Here is their very memorable jingle. Short and to the point.  That's how we like it!

If you love it, please share it! And next time you see a cop, thank them for their service! They put themselves on the line every day!
