Parking in New York is a hassle. Before I moved here, I just assumed it was the city that was a nightmare, but it turns out Upstate is just as bad.

Seasonal Parking

Beginning on Friday, May 22nd, Saratoga Springs will introduce their new Seasonal Parking initiative. Essentially, all Parking Lots and garages in the city will now cost a fee to park in. It's $2 per hour, with a $12 overnight charge if you park after 9 p.m.

The areas effected are:

  • The multi-level parking garage on Woodlawn Avenue,
  • The two-level garage on Spring Street
  • The two-level garage on Walton Street
  • The surface lot on Spring Street
  • The surface lot on High Rock Avenue

Street parking will remain free as long as you follow the set time limits given. The initiative ends on Labor Day, Monday September 7th.

Free Parking

Luckily, if you're living or working in the area, all hope is not lost. Residents and local employees are eligible for a Parking Pass that negates this issue. employees will need to get theirs from their employer, while residents can register on the city website.

If you do not follow the rules, you will be ticketed. These tickets can be forgiven if you are eligible for a city permit. If you have unpaid tickets, you must ensure they are all paid for before you can register for a parking pass.
