A press release on Tuesday by Rivers Casino and resort in Schenectady says they're ready to roll and will be opening up "very soon."  It's been months single Capital Region residents have had a chance to stay local and get their gamble on, but it appears as if the wait will soon be over.

The press release was quick to point out that Rivers will NOT be opening on Wednesday, instead it will open "VERY soon" after it was learned last week that Governor Cuomo gave our local casinos the green light to reopen.

The Rivers press release said that before they open, they'll be detailing a lIst of changes on all of their social media platforms that will allow them to operate according to New York State COVID guidelines.

Last week when the Governor announced they could reopen, it was under that guise that they'd be able to operate at a 25% capacity to which some people scoffed. It's no secret that many New Yorkers feel that Cuomo's mandates in regards to the reopening of the local businesses leave much to be desired.

In a piece that I wrote last week about some of the issues, many people reacted adversely to a space as large as Rivers opening at a quarter capacity.  Some argued that the mandate is somewhat extreme and lengthy lines to get inside Rivers will leave an undesirable taste in people's mouths.  Locals looking to satisfy the gambling urge have waited patiently while casinos throughout the Northeast have been reopened for months.

However, it does most certainly appear that sooner rather than later, Rivers will finally be open.  How soon?

VERY soon.
