Rev Up For Free Snowmobile Weekends in New York State
Big news from Governor Kathy Hochul for snowmobilers. Enjoy two weekends of free snowmobiling for all thrill-seekers from out-of-state and Canada.
Governor Hochul said,
Winter's in full swing here in New York, and we're rolling out the welcome mat for snowmobilers. Thanks to the support of local governments and clubs, we're hosting not just one, but two free snowmobiling weekends this year to amp up tourism and give our local economies a boost. It's the perfect time to plan a trip and explore one of our stunning upstate trails.
During these special weekends, the usual registration requirement in New York is waived for properly registered and insured out-of-state snowmobilers. Just make sure your snowmobile is registered in your home state or province and carry the necessary insurance.
Remember, outside of these special weekends, registration with New York State is a must before hitting the trails. These two weekends are for all of the amazing trails throughout New York State from the Adirondacks, Hudson Valley, the North Country, and Western New York.
Erik Kulleseid, Commissioner of the Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, is extending an invitation to explore the many groomed trails maintained by snowmobile clubs, counties, and municipalities.
As State Parks celebrates its Centennial, we're thrilled to have Governor Hochul's support in introducing outdoor winter enthusiasts to the wonders of the Empire State. Huge thanks to everyone involved in keeping the trails safe and enjoyable for all.
According to the Governor's office, the free New York State snowmobile weekends are March 1-3 and March 8-10. Get ready to hit the 10,500 miles of snowmobile trails.
