West Mountain has been part of the North Country in Queensbury since 1961 and there are big plans to expand it into a slopeside resort. There are a few things that need to be done first through town officials and the approval of the Town Board later this month. But the Planned Unit Development needs to approve the whole thing and the hope is that they will by the end of the year.
This year the Adirondack Harvest Festival will be changing from a one-day event to a full week of farm fun. It will be not only fun but educational as the agricultural group, Adirondack Harvest is getting the word out about sustainable farming and community. This summer has been almost a complete washout. So many cities and towns have been dealing with flooding and raging waters. Because of all of these rains, the Department of Environmental Conservation wants those enjoying hiking trails and lakes to be very cautious.
I love when local places make these "Best Of" or "Coolest" lists. We live in a pretty great area with some amazing things to offer and it's nice to see that we're appreciated nationally.
Every time I drive up the Northway, I see the run down ruins of a park that I loved to go to as a kid. I have so many fond memories of this place and here's hoping there is someone out there that can either bring it back, or make it an amazing place to visit again.
