Preliminary Capital Region Snowfall Totals
I say preliminary because at the end of today, these snowfall totals will be much higher.
Based on the snowfall totals below from the National Weather Service (NWS), December has definitely arrived with a bang, and the snow is not done yet. Depending on where you live in the Capital Region, most areas have seen at least a foot of snow, with more than 20 inches in spots. At my house in Clifton Park, we had 17 inches when I venture out to shovel this morning. Here are some of the bigger totals from the NWS:
- Malta: 20 inches
- Latham: 20 Inches
- Clifton Park: 20 inches
- Schenectady: 16.9 inches
- Brunswick: 16.5 inches
- Amsterdam: 15.8 inches
- Albany International Airport: 14.5 inches
- Delmar: 14 inches
Here is the snowfall map from the NWS:
The NWS is saying we do have another heavier band of snow coming in later today which probably will affect the evening commute. Another 5 to 9 inches of snow could fall before this one wraps up tonight. When it's all said and done, Old Man Winter has definitely made his presence known with this storm. As aggravating as digging out can be, having all this snow is a nice way to kick off the holiday season.
