Popular Discount Retailer To Close Capital Region Store

A popular discount retail chain has announced plans to close one of its Capital Region locations.

It is always a bummer to see a Capital Region store or business of any kind close its doors, but in this case, it is not all bad news. News 10 is reporting that Big Lots will close one of their local stores in the new year.

The silver lining is the closing will only affect one local location. Big Lots shoppers will still be able to take advantage of their discounted pricing at stores in Troy, Amsterdam, and Clifton Park.

Which Local Big Lots Location is Closing?

According to News 10, the Big Lots located in the Colonie Plaza at 1892 Central Avenue will close for good in January and is already marking down its inventory. News 10 cites company sources who say the closings are "...to make sure we're best positioned to serve our customers and our business." The Hudson Valley Post is reporting that Big Lots locations in Newburgh and Riverhead will also close in the next few months.
