When we asked this question on our socials a few weeks back, we received hundreds of comments from people who couldn't wait to talk smack about the one red light that made them wait the longest.
We've narrowed it down to what we believe are the 4 lengthiest lights in the Capital Region based on your comments.
(Vote for the longest light below)
- Route 9 in Clifton Park, at The Crossings Plaza
- Hoosick Street and 8th Street in Troy
- Corner of Bay Road and Quaker Road, Queensbury
- The Colonie Center Exit onto Central Avenue
There are over 1.1 million people - and hundreds of thousands of commuters each day - throughout the Capital Region, and it doesn't matter if you pass through Troy, Albany, Clifton Park, Glens Falls, or Lake George, there's always that one intersection, or that one light, capable of throwing your whole morning out of whack.
How long does it take for the average light to change?
According to the NYS DOT, signal timing cycle lengths usually fall between 45 seconds and two whole minutes, and the timing for each signal is determined based on traffic volume and traffic patterns in each particular area.
