How'd They Get Him?

Troy Police say that on Monday, March 31st, they responded to a reported assault in an alleyway near 2nd Street and Harrison Street. According to the report, the victim, a 65-year-old, said the suspect "assaulted them with a sharp object" and then fled the scene on foot.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital where they were treated for their injuries.

As police in Troy continued their investigation on Wednesday, they saw a male who matched his description. When they attempted to speak with him, Zacarias-Garciao fled to a nearby wooded area but was captured shortly thereafter.

In the Country Illegally

Troy Police reported that he told them he ran because "he was in the United States illegally."

After his capture, police interviewed the suspect further, and he admitted that he had been involved in another assault that had occurred on March 26th in South Troy near the railroad tracks.

According to the Troy Police, Zacarias-Garciao's victim was 46 years old and was treated for knife injuries at a local area hospital.

Suspect Tried Escaping Police Station

Once they had detained the suspect inside the station, he tried to escape again - this time from leg shackles -  but was unsuccessful.

According to the Troy Police Department, "the suspect was detained using a leg shackle attached to the floor. Troy Police Detectives observed the suspect attempting to bypass the lock in the leg shackle on live video using a paper clip. Officers entered the room, ensured the equipment was still effective, and transported the suspect into our booking area within our Central Station."

After being charged, Troy Police notified the Department of Homeland Security Investigations about the arrest and that he had entered the United States illegally.

LOOK! Abandoned Orange County Chopper HQs in Newburgh-TLC's 'American Chopper'

WARNING: Under no circumstances should you enter this property. By doing so you risk bodily harm and/or prosecution for trespassing on private property.
In 2003, a father-son business reality show hit the Discovery Channel. It was called American Chopper and it followed the custom motorcycle-building business of the Teutul family out of Newburgh, NY. Paul Sr. owned the shop with sons Paul Jr. and Mikey working in the business. There was a slew of cast and characters. The center of the show wasn't just the amazing custom motorcycles built for celebrities and others, it was the volatile relationship between Sr. and Jr. The show ran for 12 seasons before the two could no longer get along. It ended up in lawsuits and the two not talking for ten-plus years. In the past few years, the business moved to Florida. This left the 61,000-square-foot headquarters for sale and abandoned. Take a look at what remained of Orange County Choppers.
