Plane Crashes in Woods Near Adirondack Airport Sunday Evening
Another Plane Down in the ADKS
Authorities are expected to release more information on Monday after a plane crashed near Piseco Airport in Hamilton County on Sunday evening.
According to NewsChannel 13, sources confirmed the aircraft went down in the woods near the airport around 7 p.m. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office told the station additional information would be released on Monday as investigators continue their work.
UPDATE: What We Know So Far
According to NewsChannel 13, the Federal Aviation Administration has confirmed the aircraft involved was a Cessna 182 carrying only the pilot, who was killed in the crash. The FAA said the plane went down around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 12, near Piseco Airport in Hamilton County under unknown circumstances before a post-crash fire broke out.
The agency noted that the information is preliminary and subject to change, and said that both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation into the cause of the crash.

An eyewitness, Braelyn Pliscofsky, shared on Facebook that they watched the aircraft circle the airport before appearing to line up for a landing.
"I saw the whole thing," Pliscofsky wrote. "A plane came over the lake, did a figure eight around the airport... then came back towards the airport looking like it was going to land, then it started to go down."

Eyewitness Claims to Have Seen the Plane Down
The witness also claimed firefighters initially entered the wooded crash site but later backed out after hearing an explosion before crews eventually extinguished the fire. Those details have not been independently confirmed by authorities.

The crash happened near Piseco Airport, a small public-use airport in the heart of the Adirondacks, roughly 90 minutes north of Albany.
The incident comes just days after another plane crash near Blairs Bay on Lake George, where all occupants survived.
