Photos Show Extensive Damage to Clifton Park Bridge
While thankfully no one was injured this morning, all lanes southbound on the Northway near exits 9 and 8A in Clifton Park remain closed. According to CBS 6 News, traffic is being diverted off exit 10 after a commercial vehicle hit the Sitterly Road bridge causing major backups and delays. Photos obtained by GNA show the extensive damage to the Clifton Park bridge.
Dahn Bull, the highway superintendent told us that right now he's waiting on the Department of Transportation to make an assessment on the bridge writing on his Facebook page that, "DOT Engineers must initiate their safety inspections of the bridge and clear the bridge before reopening." He did say that he feels that the Sitterly Road bridge will be shut down "for the foreseeable future."

DOT Engineers must initiate their safety inspections of the bridge and clear the bridge before reopening." Dahn Bull Facebook
Dahn has allowed GNA to share some of the photos that he took this morning. Make sure to check in with GNA throughout the morning and afternoon to get information regarding the bridge as it most certainly will be affecting many people's commute here in the Capital Region.
