NYS Parks Start Taking Camping Reservations Today
As more and more activities start to re-open across New York state, camping is next on the list. Today (Monday, June 8th) you can reserve a campsite in all of the New York State Parks. There are some restrictions and reservations will fill up fast. Here's what you need to know. According to WKBW.com, reservations are being accepted starting today at New York State Parks. The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation website says that the slots will fill up fast when reservations open at 9am this morning online. Monday, June 22nd is the first available check-in date.
There are many guidelines that will have to be followed at all New York State campgrounds. Campers must practice social distancing and wear a mask. The New York State Park Police will be enforcing these rules. If you do not comply, you will be asked to leave the campground without a refund.
There are also measures that have been implemented at the campsites because of COVID-19. There will be no walk-up reservations. Department of Health protocols will be followed when cleaning each restroom. Restrooms and showers may be closed periodically for cleaning and capacity will be reduced. Gatherings at campgrounds will be limited to only household members. There will be no events or campground programs. You will see COVID signage installed throughout the parks. There will be screening questions asked for campers to determine if they have been in contact with someone who had coronavirus or experienced symptoms.
