Living near the Adirondacks and the beautiful fall foliage, I was surprised to find out that New York state hasn't finished first in three years. Now New York is the champion and it's well deserved. According to newyorkupstate.com, this was the fifth year of the Nikon Inc's "Top Spots for Fall Foliage" contest. The contest is open to all fifty states and there were over five thousand entries with nearly seven hundred coming in from New York state.

The entries that were submitted included beautiful fall landscapes, city-scapes with fall scenes, and rural wilderness. With six hundred and forty-eight entries, made New York state the winner. Nikon based the criteria on how many amazing submissions were received by each state. Michigan, who was the reigning champion came in second and Colorado finished third.

I know I have taken a bunch of beautiful pictures of the fall foliage here in and around the Capital Region, but you have to see the ones that made the cut HERE.
