When the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID) first decided to seek artists proposals to decorate Nipper the Dog statues to display in downtown Albany, they had no idea how successful it would be.Back in May, the BID sought applications for designers to submit for ten statues to be put around Albany to raise money for downtown and the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. After receiving the applications, they realized that Nipper was a popular dog. They raised the number to twenty.

Now that the statues are all decorated, they are being put out around the city and they are awesome or I should say, "pawsome". The complete installation of the sculptures for the Downtown is Pawsome exhibit will be complete today (Friday). The public exhibit will be on display through May of 2018.

There is a special Downtown Is Pawsome Garden Party happening at Albany City Hall from 5:30 until 8pm tonight (Friday) to benefit The Albany BID and the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
