Nipper the Dog

This statue is a doggone legend in the Capital Region, and this is the story behind it.

Allow me to introduce a dog with a penchant for biting, and a statue with a long history in the Capital Region. Luckily, Nipper the Dog hasn't run away just yet.

We don't have the pyramids, we don't have Stonehenge, we don't have a giant statue of Zeus, but we do have a dog and an egg.

When the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID) first decided to seek artists proposals to decorate Nipper the Dog statues to display in downtown Albany, they had no idea how successful it would be.

I always love when cities and towns get creative by showcasing what they are known for. The Business Improvement District of Albany is getting creative by using the famous Nipper the dog for a project called "Downtown Is Pawsome".
