New York has always been good about this, but how do we stack up against the rest of America?

Wasting Energy in New York
Recently, PowerWizard released a survey on which states are more likely to waste energy. The main two issues facing some of the higher wasting states are continuously running water and background TV, which are nonessential energy uses but nonetheless, consume that energy all the same.
On the list, New York ranked in at Number 40 for energy wasting, leaving us as one of the most energy conscious states in the Union. While not one of the five best, we've shown time and time again that we refuse to waste energy.
Tips to Stay More Energy Conscious
Conserving energy isn't just helping the state or the environment, it also helps you save on your utility bill. Who doesn't want that?
In order to save, follow these simple tips:
- Give Your A/C Some Flexibility: Whether it's raising the temperature a few degrees in the summer or lowering it in the winter, find a comfortable spot outside the norm, and watch the savings roll in.
- Make Sure Electronics Aren't Always On: Maybe you leave the TV on for hours on end, or maybe you're just keeping some electronics plugged in overnight. Make sure to unplug any unused electronics unless you're currently using them.
- Stop Using So Much Hot Water: This one seems pretty self-explanatory
- Use Appliances with Intention: Don't just run a half-empty dishwasher or laundry machine, ensure you're using your tech to the fullest extent.
These aren't catch-alls, but even just one could have a drastic impact on your utility bill, and the energy usage of the state as a whole.
