New Year’s Eve Safe Ride Program In Effect
If you plan on drinking tonight to celebrate the new year, Albany County is implementing its annual Safe Ride program for New Year's Eve. There are free rides and discounted rides for all who have had too much to drink tonight. Here are the details. There are a few ways you can utilize the Safe Ride program. According to News Channel 10, it's pretty easy to use. Just download the free MHM Safe Ride app from the app store or Google Play and request a ride.
You can also take advantage of CDTA. They will offer free bus service tonight starting at 8 pm and running through New Year's Day. Bus service will also be available for free at all regular stops.
Decresente Distributing is sponsoring an Uber promotion tonight. The first twenty-five riders will get $10 off their Uber ride. This covers riders that are celebrating within a five-mile radius from these locations. Rivers Casino & Resort, Schenectady; The Desmond Hotel, Albany; Lionheart Pub (Madison Ave.), Albany; Saratoga Casino Hotel, Saratoga; The Saratoga City Tavern (Caroline Street), Saratoga; Dinosaur Bar-B-Que (River Street), Troy. This program will run from 11pm tonight through 4am New Year's Day.
There will also be more Uber and Lyft drivers in service throughout Albany County to accommodate party-goers.
Since the Safe Ride program stared in 1982, there has not been an alcohol-related fatality in Albany County on New Year's Eve.
