New Microbrewery and Beer Garden Could be on Tap in Hudson
There could be another brewery coming to Hudson in the winter of 2022. According to the Albany Business Review, plans have been submitted to the town of Hudson that would take an unfinished warehouse and a vacant lot and turn it into a microbrewery and taproom along with an outdoor beer garden.
There is a five thousand square foot warehouse building located at 716 Union Street with a vacant lot next to it that would be renovated and upgraded. This is right across from the police station. The new place would be known as the Union Street Brewing Company.
When plans were submitted, Paul and Emma O'Donnell of SPE Ventures LLC laid out their vision:
We are looking to be a destination for beer geeks, a local watering hole as well as a community meeting place. We plan to be a productive member of the town of Hudson economy by creating jobs and tax revenue as early as winter 2022 when we plan to begin construction.
Union Street Brewing Company would be a microbrewery open Thursdays through Sundays to start and would employ ten people during the first year. The application that was submitted explained the goals of opening the brewery:
Union Street Brewing Company plans to operate a quiet, family-friendly, and relaxing beer garden during warmer months and plans to open the garden-facing doors in the taproom when weather permits. We may on occasion offer live music indoors or in the beer garden and we will comply fully with the town of Hudson noise ordinance.
The Hudson planning board has reviewed the application and has scheduled a public hearing that will be held on September 14th.
There is another microbrewery in town. The Hudson Brewing Company is located on South 3rd Street.
