It looks like there is another fun activity to learn and do in Saratoga County. There is a new archery range that is in the woods off of Route 50 in Wilton. The area is managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and replaces an old shooting range. It can be used by both adults and kids according to News 10 ABC.

The only experience I have had with archery was going to the Renaissance Fair in Sterling, NY. One of my college roommates actually owned the archery booth and we visited each summer. Sure I could put the arrow on the bow, but I couldn't hit the target if my life depended on it. I will say, though it's a really fun sport for both kids and adults.

The new Saratoga Sand Plains archery range sits on the former site of Parcel 45 Wildlife Management Area which was once a shooting range. The community has complained about the run-down area as per Wilton and Saratoga County officials.

The Saratoga Sand Plains is a fifty-yard range with sixteen targets. There are lanes that are for adults and children archers. A platform that is elevated is also on site. This is designed to feel like you are shooting high in a tree.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service helped to create the archery range by donating fifteen thousand dollars along with the Wildlife and Sportfish Restoration Program. In the future, New York State hopes to use the range to host archery lessons.
