My Wife Says I’m Married To My Work

The "Daily Dilemma" on the Sean and Richie Show is featured every weekday morning at 6:40am. We and the listeners take on someone's problems and try to offer different perspectives. Now, these don't have to be huge problems- it could just be something bothering you or a friend, or it could be some little thing you and another just can't agree on. Here is today's dilemma:

My job is pretty intense, and involves a lot of emails back and forth between me, my co-workers, and clients.

My wife and I went away for the Labor Day weekend, and a few times I whipped out my phone to check email. I tried to be careful about it, but I'll admit one time was during a nice dinner.

And obviously, she let me have it. She said I can't relax, and that if I'm not fully focused on her, I don't care enough about her.

It seems to me that my job supports the family and she should be more understanding that I just can't turn my phone off and be unavailable.

Am I the one who is being selfish here?
