Newburgh is by socioeconomic indicators a poor town, with a very high crime rate. However when a mother drove her minivan with 4 children off a boat launch into the Hudson River with the sole intent of killing herself and them, no town is prepared to cope with something this cold, heartless and calculated. 1 child, a 10 year old boy managed to get out and report the horrific incident to the authorities.
