New York Woman Arrested For Smacking A Man At A Drive Thru
Drive-Thrus can be an aggravating experience, I know. You'd think the concept of "Fast Food" would happen fast, but these days your wait can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes.
Yes, that wait's frustrating, but once you order there's really not much you can do. Unless, of course, you're one Upstate woman...

The Slap
On June 20th, 2026 at around 12:43 a.m., Constance Cota, a 39 year old from Gouverneur went to her local McDonald's. While waiting in line in the Drive-Thru, she allegedly got out of her vehicle, walked up to the vehicle in front of her, and slapped the driver for, quote, not "hurrying up getting his food".

The incident was immediately reported to the police by the McDonald’s manager. He stated in his report that a customer was assaulted outside of their restaurant, and that Cota also tried to break the vehicle's window. McDonald's also provided police with security camera footage.
The Aftermath
Four days after the event, Coat was arrested by police and released to appear in Gouverneur Town Court at a later date. She faces a charge of second-degree harassment.
There is no information on what caused Cota to assault the driver aside from a long (relatively) wait.
Just remember, there's really nothing you can do once you place your order. If it's taking a while, it's more than likely not the fault of the person in front of you. The restaurant creates the order and gets them handed out at their leisure. So please, stay kind in line.
